How to get Casa La Pennica
Eastern Sicily does not stand out for the efficiency of public transport, so it is strongly recommended to explore this area of Sicily by car or motorcycle. Below you can find some practical information on mobility to and from Noto.
By Plane: the nearest airport is Catania Fontanarossa, where many national and international flights land in all year long. It is about 90 km far from Noto.
By car / motorbike: both for those arriving in Sicily landing at Catania airport and for those who have ferried over the strait arriving in Messina, the Messina-Catania-Siracusa-Rosolini highway is the most convenient way to get to Noto (highway exit “Noto” ). From Catania to the south, the motorway does not require any payment (which is not common in Italy).
Once you exit the junction, continue towards Noto Hospital. Then continue driving to San Corrado di Fuori.
By Bus: although as mentioned it is recommended to use a private vehicle (in Catania city or in the Airport the main car rental have their agencies), there are a couple of companies (Interbus, AST) that provide the BUS service between Catania / Airport and the villages of Val di Noto (Noto itself included, obviously). It is advisable to ask for confirmation of schedules and availability, because they are often subject to changes. Unfortunately, once you arrive in Noto, reaching Casa La Pennica by public transport is not easy: take the Lido-Noto-San Corrado shuttle outside to San Corrado di Fuori and walk for about 1 km.
